We have 6 different trail heads with-in a 25-30 minute drive from the cabin. These make up nearly 200+ miles of ride-able high altitude trails. In New Mexico there are 5 different national forests that provide riding areas. Most of these locations outside of our Pecos are only roughly 1.5 to 2 hours away. They can provide great day trips as well as overnight camping if the guest wants to.
We recommend all guest have a well serviced ready to go SxS. For Safety we recommend each persons vehicle be equipped with a 15+ Watt GMRS radio. Next we recommend OnX Off-road mapping. We are able to send over our way point files so that if a member of the party does get separated. You'll know the direction and next meet up. Next is a suitable fire extinguisher. We are in a national forest. So we want to do our best in case an emergency arises. Next just a suitable cooler for drinks and snacks while on the trail. Everyone should carry a 1 to 2 spare belts if you have a CVT transmission. Suitable tools to preform basic repairs.
We typically handle all breakfast planning from quick snacks to breakfast burritos and traditional breakfast meals in the morning. While riding or sitting around the cabin lunch can be provided by us as Ham/Turkey Sandwiches and sides. Dinners are up to the guest to plan with their group. We have a fully equipped kitchen. Some guest may choose to dine in town on the way home from rides.
Not at all! The beauty of the cabin is if some guest feel like just relaxing and sitting around the cabin, or maybe they want to hike with the kids, or go fishing you can. If half a group wants to ride and half the group wants to go fishing or maybe the women folk may want to plan a trip into Santa Fe to look at the jewelry stores they can. We can generally send someone into town with them if they'd like to help hit all the popular areas.
Absolutely, We are in a gated community almost at the very end of the road before you enter the national forest. Only those who own cabins are allowed into the Pecos Estate. Guest are welcome to drop their trailers in our designated parking areas. Some guest choose to go into ABQ or Santa Fe or even take road trip to Ruidosa and Roswell. To ensure our customers we even provide temporary tracking devices to be placed on their vehicles while away.
Absolutely not, We know peoples vacation time may be limited or a guest may want to arrive back home early. Guest are welcome to come and go as they please between the dates we establish. If a guest wants to arrive Sunday or Monday and Leave Friday they are welcome too. Some guest may choose to leave Friday but then stay an extra night into Saturday the last minute. This is fine. The reservation is Saturday-Saturday.
They do require a permit to ride on new mexico lands. The out of state 90 permit is $18. We can help set this up for any guest who may need help. We will be able to print the permit while at the cabin. If you choose to enjoy some trout fishing streams a New Mexico fishing license is required. A 5 day permit is $24.00 We can also set this up and print a license at the cabin. A habitat stamp may be required for an additional $10
We will be in contact with you as quickly as possible to confirm the dates you have selected. If the dates are not already booked we will let you know as soon as possible. We will email over a release of liability form that must be signed by all participants in the party including children. This can be printed and sent back to us. Guest without release of liability forms will be turned away. Once your form is signed a deposit of 50% will be required to hold your spot.
